El Sol del Solsonès wants to have an impact on the population made of people with mental illness and people who life together, directly or indirectly with someone with a mental disorder.
The families have in common the following features:
• Familiar
cores where a severe mental illness is diagnosed.
• Families which require information, orientation and support to face
the mental illness.
• The individual with mental illness must be in follow-up with the mental
health services that corresponds to him or her.
• The diagnostic and chronicity degree of the individual with the mental
disorder, in order to be informed about the time during which the relatives
have been living together with the mentally ill.
The mental illnesses predominant in these familiar cores are schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and chronic depressions. The patients have a low level of independence, social isolation, few economic resources, lack of working occupation. All these factors impact directly on the family.
We also will work with that group affected with dual pathology, i.e., those individuals that due to the consumption of toxics developed a mental disorder. For this reason we also believe convenient to work with people who start taking drugs, in order to avoid more several pathologies , and also the work with the families, which can contribute to the risk reduction.
